A new home for Goodwill is set to be built where Saint Rita's Church currently sits
WOODSTOCK - Goodwill is getting ready for a major demolition project in Woodstock.
The charity is moving onto the land currently holding the unoccupied Saint Rita's Church. President and CEO of Goodwill Ontario Great Lakes Michelle Quintyn says although they have to tear the church town, it for a good reason. "The major reason for expansion is so that Goodwill can integrate more of it's mission into our community store in Woodstock. We'll have training and sort of classroom facilities, we'll have a community room to welcome various community partners, and we also do a lot of training around issues like computer literacy, financial literacy."
Quintyn says they have really been embraced here in Woodstock, and they are looking forward to having more ways to interact with the community. They hope to get started on the project very soon. "We expect to begin the process any day now," Quintyn enthused. "We are just working on some final permits and you should see activity on that site within days. It is our aim to open sometime toward the end of October."
For now the location at 865 Dundas Street will continue to operate until they can move into their new, bigger, better location.
