Internet Sense First wants to shine a light on how electronics impact family communication.
INGERSOLL - Internet Sense First wants to shine a light on how electronics impact family communication.
They will be hosting an Unplugged Family Event at the Fusion Youth Centre on Saturday September 29th from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Founder Charlene Doak-Gebauer says there's no cell phones allowed.
"We have the Fun Fine police. They'll go around and if they see a cell phone they will have a bowl for a donation. It's for comedy and we have a good time doing it but we want people to know how much the cell phone is interfering with their family life."
This isn't the first time they have hosted an Unplugged event. Doak-Gebauer says the community response is always interesting.
"In our other events it's been mind boggling for attendees because they say they've never realized how often they reach for their cell phone."
They will have lots of entertainment on tap, including live stage play about internet safety. There will also be 22 vendors on hand and lots of activities.
Adult tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Admission for children is by donation.Internet Sense Fist is an organization that educates families about online safety. They also help child victims of online predators.
