Gems and Java will be taking place at the South Gate Centre on Friday September 30th and Saturday October 1st.
WOODSTOCK - The Gems and Java fundraiser for Mothers With A Heart For Ethiopia is back in person after a two-year virtual run.
This year, the event will take place over two days at the South Gate Centre, on the evening of Friday September 30th and the afternoon of Saturday October 1st. You'll be able to shop at the Bags and Baubles Boutique, the Ethiopian Marketplace and bid in the silent auction.
Mothers With A Heart For Ethiopia aims to put on a fun event, while also raising money for their overseas projects in Ethiopia and educating the guests on the country's needs.
Shelley Green, Founder & Chair of Mothers With A Heart For Ethiopia says it's a great way to support the work that's happening.
"I think that's what makes the event so special. People come out and they have a really great time, but they also leave feeling like their heart has been warmed knowing they've done something good with their time and money and that they are responding to the needs that they've heard about in Ethiopia."
Mothers With A Heart For Ethiopia has been working on a total of seven projects. Examples include continuing to support a shelter for 92 children, they have funded over 500 prolapsed uterus surgeries and they've created a program employing women to create and distribute menstrual products for young girls who would otherwise miss school for a week during their menstrual cycle.

Shelley Green came into the studio on Friday morning to talk with Dan and Marcie about the event and you can listen to the full interview below.
