Gems and Java is moving virtual this year with a Home Edition in support of Mothers With A Heart For Ethiopia this weekend.
WOODSTOCK - Gems and Java is moving virtual this year with a Home Edition in support of Mothers With A Heart For Ethiopia.
The popular fundraiser will be open to everybody with an online silent auction, live music, motivational speakers and an update on all the work happening behind the scenes. Founder of Mothers of With a Heart For Ethiopia Shelley Green says had to pivot this year with the pandemic.
"So we have Gems and Java Home Edition and we are really excited to open this event to everybody. So it is now open to the general public, we have a silent auction that will open on October 26th at 9:00 am and the silent auction that will be online will close on October 31st at 9:00 pm. During that week, people can go on, see all of the items and bid throughout the week and we will have a lot of amazing items available on the silent auction."
Green says they will then have the actual events on Friday night and Saturday afternoon on October 30th and 31st.
"We are looking forward to having wonderful music talent, we have a Jazz sextet that will be performing as almost like a reception time before the actual program starts. We have two soloists that are performing wonderful pieces. We have different speakers, we have a motivational piece and we will be sharing information on the projects that are donors are supporting. I think it is going to be a great program to inspire people and to motivate them to think about the needs of women and children that are living in abject poverty in Ethiopia.
Gems and Java is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Mothers With a Heart For Ethiopia. Green says they are doing some fantastic things right now.
"Mothers With A Heart For Ethiopia is supporting 7 projects right now in Ethiopia. We have a group home with four young men that are in school, our oldest is doing his Masters degree and two of the men are doing volunteer work in the community helping women and children that are living in abject poverty. We support a program that helps children that have been living on the streets, to come into shelter, they are provided with food, education, psychological care, health care and most importantly love."
These are just some of the amazing projects that Mothers WIth a Heart For Ethiopia are supporting right now. You can read more about some of the work they are doing and find out how to sign up for Gems and Java this year online through web site here.
