The Future Oxford Steering Committee will be hiring a Program Director to act as their champion and make sure the plan moves forward.
WOODSTOCK - The Future Oxford Steering committee is looking to hire a part time Program Director to help them move forward with their plan.
Chair of the Future Oxford Partnership Chris Friesen tells Heart FM why they need to hire a program director.
"We need an employee who is going to carry the ball on a day to day basis. Like any other volunteer organization, the people who sit around the partnership table are all going to have full time jobs and they are volunteering their time to help move the sustainability plan forward. When we talked with our consultants we realized we need a champion. When you're all said and done and the plan is complete, you need someone who is going to carry the flag, raise the banner, shout it from the rooftops, so our solution was we need an employee; someone who is going to dedicate themselves more singularly to the implementation of the plan and bring like minded people together better than any group of volunteers could."
Friesen says if it simply left in the hands of the board who is made up entirely of volunteers, then they won't be able to put enough time into the project to see it reach its maximum potential. He tells Heart FM what they are looking for in an employee.
"We need someone who can quickly learn what Future Oxford is about and get things rolling, they need to be someone who has good connections to the community - it's not that you can't make those connections but the more you connections you have at all three pillars of the plan in community, economy and the environment the better."
The program Director is a 20 hour a week position and will be funded by the operating budget given to Future Oxford from the County. You can learn more at futureoxford.ca.
