City Council will start to deal with the future of Cedar Creek and Southside Pond next month. A report from a Consultant shows the options the city has with the lack of water flow and how to improve water quality. "An Advisory Committee to Council talked to the Upper Thames, had them in to do a presentation and they've come up with this recommendation, which is the elimination of the dam. It's an opinion and Council will start to deal with it in a months time," said Woodstock Mayor Pat Sobeski. On Thursday, council heard from its Environmental Advisory Committee, who is recommending the removal of the Southside Dam. "They have the belief that the dam should be removed and have a river and get the water moving quickly, but at all of the public meetings there's a 'sediment,' no pun intended, for the pond at Southside. It's not the perfect solution, but most people seem to want to keep the picturesque Southside Pond," said Sobeski. Council will start to deal with the issue at its second meeting in November.
