WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is in need of doctors.
To solve this issue, City Council has decided to hire a recruiter. This individual will use the highlights of the city to attract doctors to work here.
Development Officer Brad Hammond says family doctors are a particular need for the city.
"Like most smaller communities in Ontario we've had a difficult time attracting new physicians to set up practice here. Most people know someone that doesn't have a family doctor or if they do have a family doctor, it's in a different community that they have to drive to."
Hammond says one highlight to use is the City's location.
"One of the things we'll focus on is our location obviously, like the same way that we attract businesses to the city. We're a good location between Hamilton, London, Toronto and so forth, so between larger medical centers."
The recruiter will meet potential Woodstock doctors and provide tours.
