WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is offering up a few ways to beat the heat this summer with Free Swims at the Southside Aquatics Centre and Lions Pool.
Every other Tuesday they offer up a free swim at Southside and every other Friday it's free to swim at the Lions Pool with the swims sponsored by Tim Hortons.
Southside also offers a sponsorship program where local companies sponsor free swims with the first one happening this Saturday from 1:10 P.M. to 3 P.M. Supervisor of Aquatic and Recreation Programs Patrick King tells Heart FM why they offer the free swims.
"It's our goal here with the City to get people actively engaged in physical activity and one our ways is offering these free swims and getting people in the water and cooled down."
He notes the swims are available for the entire family and are a great way to beat the heat this summer. All of the free swim times are from 1:10 P.M. to 3 P.M. Dr. Ethan Lee Family Dentistry is sponsoring the swims on July 25th and August 22nd. Thomas Electric is sponsoring a free swim on July 30th, Dr. Ed Hobden Family and Cosmetic Dentistry is hosting one on August 29th and AP Hurley Construction is hosting a free swim on August 27th.
