Wintery wallop hitting a large portion of southern Ontario this weekend
A freezing rain warning has ended in Oxford County for today, but we're not out of the woods yet.
A second storm will hit the area Saturday night into Sunday.
The first system that began last night has delivered mostly rain for Oxford County to this point.
The storms, which are tracking to our area from Texas, have picked up moisture from the Gulf and could drop significant amounts of freezing rain, ice pellets, snow and even rain.
Weather Preparedness Meterologist Marie-Eve Giguere with Environment Canada says they are watching that second storm closely. "There is still a lot of uncertainty with that second system so anybody planning to travel, definitely Saturday night and Sunday should be keeping an eye on the forecast as we can fine-tune which areas is going to get the freezing rain and the ice pellets."
Giguere is warning residents of the possibility of hazardous travelling conditions as well as the possibility of power outages. People are encouraged to have an emergency preparedness kit on hand at all times in the event of a prolonged power outage.
Keep it tuned to Heart FM over the weekend as we will continue to monitor the situation and pass along any weather updates and traffic issues as necessary.
