Environment Canada we're in for a prolonged freezing rain event starting late Wednesday and continuing into Thursday.
UPDATE 2: A freezing rain warning is now in effect for Oxford and Brant.
It should start later this afternoon and continue overnight before it starts to taper off tomorrow morning. Environment Canada says we could see about 10 to 20 milimetres of ice accretion, which means the roads will be quite slippery out there.
The freezing rain could also damage trees and cause extensive power outages.

UPDATE: The special weather statement has been updated to a winter storm watch.
Environment Canada says the ice storm could result in extended and widespread power outages. The freezing rain could also create icy conditions on the roadways.
A freezing rain warning could be issued later today or at some point tomorrow.

OXFORD/BRANT - It's the calm before the ice storm in Oxford and Brant.
Environment Canada says we're in for freezing rain starting Wednesday night and lasting into Thursday which could result in significant ice build-up.
This is all thanks to a Colorado low system that will move through southwestern Ontario, bringing freezing rain to areas between Sarnia and Niagara.
A special weather statement is currently in effect but it could turn into a freezing rain warning at some point today or tomorrow.
