People in Stratford were able to slap on some sunscreen for free over the summer thanks to Public Health.
STRATFORD - This summer the Perth District Health Unit had people covered...in sunscreen.
Twelve free sunscreen dispensers were installed at eight locations around the City of Stratford so people could protect themselves from harmful UV radiation.
Public Health Nurse Karen Bergin-Payette says people were really receptive.
"Over 27 litres of sunscreen which translates into about 4,500 applications for citizens, tourists, and residents who were outside in the county over the summer."
Because of the success of this first year, they are considering expanding the pilot project to more areas.
"We have received some interest from St Marys and South Perth and we're looking at providing dispensers and sunscreen refills for some of our municipal partners to pilot the project next year."
