Woodstock Police are reminding residents to not become a victim after an alarming amount of fraud reports in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are warning the public about a number of frauds and scams plaguing the friendly city.
Over the past couple of weeks, they have received numerous calls from residents about fraudulent phone and online scams in Woodstock. Most of the scams involve the Canada Revenue Agency, Visa, MasterCard and various other international scams.
Police are reminding everyone to not be a victim and are offering up the following Fraud Prevention tips:
* Do not provide any personal Information
* Do not provide any banking Information including account or Pin numbers
* Resist pressure
* Know who you are dealing with, confirm names and contact Information
* Do not accept a cheque from any unknown person of organization.
* Never agree to cash an unknown parties cheque and wire return funds
* Reach out to your family, friends, banking institution or Police if you suspect fraudulent activity
* Report all incidents to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501
