There has been zero fraud incidents reported to the Stratford Police Service throughout this previous week marking a great end to their fraud prevention month.
STRATFORD - The Stratford Police Service's Fraud Prevention month is coming to a positive end.
As of Friday, March 29, 2019 there has been zero fraud incidents reported to the Stratford Police Service for the previous week. The Police service prior to this week had been receiving near daily reports of frauds, mostly in the form of what is referred to as scams.
Although there were no reports made over this week the Stratford Police would like everyone within our community to remain diligent and aware of the various types of scams that are affecting people. Most importantly, be sceptical; if something sounds too good to be true, it likely is. Also, do some research, and doesn't allow people to pressure you into making an immediate decision. Romance frauds are reported to be having the most significant financial effect on Canadians at this time, and are mostly targeted toward seniors. Talk to your family, friends, and neighbours and encourage them not to become involved in a relationship with someone they have never personally met, and again, be sceptical of someone you have only met online who quickly starts to adorn you with praise.
