Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education Sam Oosterhoff is the main speaker at an anti-abortion event organized by a group that compared getting an abortion to the holocaust.
NIAGARA FALLS - The Ontario Parliamentary Assistant of Education and Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff is facing criticism today for his participation in an upcoming event.
Oosterhoff is featured on the poster for the event called "Gen Z: Challenging Abortion in Politics" as the main speaker for the event. Oosterhoff has long be known for his pro life stance.
The group he is speaking for has a tweet where they state the following.
"Making abortions an early priority is the same as Hitler who made it an early priority to kill the Jews."
This tweet was actually pinned to the top of their feed for awhile, it's no longer the pinned tweet but it's still on the timeline. NDP Education Critic Marit Styles is calling on Oosterhoff to resign and with a link to a news story as the pinned tweet.
How is this in any way acceptable, let alone for the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education. I would like to see the Minister publicly denounce this group... and Oosterhoff should step down. Enough is enough. #onpoli #onted https://t.co/PcYUcvOvbL

Heart FM reached out to Oosterhoff for comment on the matter. This was his response.
“I don’t think anyone is surprised to know that I am pro-life. I have always been very clear where I stand when it comes to protecting the right to life. While I respect everyone’s right to hold and express their personal views, I don’t believe anything should be compared to the horror of the Holocaust.”
Premier Doug Ford was asked about it today. He says nothing should ever be compared to the holocaust.
"Everyone has the right to believe in what they want and I'm not one to dictate in anyone's belief. What I don't believe in, is to compare abortion to the holocaust, that's just wrong, nothing should be compared to the holocaust, that's unique but I will be speaking to Sam tonight."
