Premier Doug Ford is stressing the importance of social distancing over the Easter long weekend.
ONTARIO - Premier Doug Ford is urging everyone to stay home and avoid large family gatherings this Easter long weekend.
Ford says are daily case numbers are rising everyday and it could lead to more restrictions.
"First of all, I am extremely concerned at the situation we are seeing and the numbers going up. I'm also concerned about seeing the age group, the younger people now in the ICU's. Everything is on the table right now, I'm asking you, don't make plans for Easter. I won't hesitate to lock things down if we have too."
Ford says he's asking people to not have big plans with family members this weekend.
"Nothing is more important than our health, the economy is important but it can wait, without our health, we won't have an economy."
Ford was also asked if maybe opened things up too quickly.
"We were hitting below a 1000 cases and things were looking rose and I took the advice from the Chief Medical Officer and I will continue to take the advice. I won't hesitate, believe me, to lock things down until we can protect the ICU capacities at the hospitals."
Ford was also criticized for loosening restrictions in hot spot areas. He says every decision has been made on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.
