Brant OPP teamed up with the County of Brant Fire and Paramedics to raise over 20,000 lbs of food and nearly $6000 in cash, along with hundreds of toys over the holidays.
PARIS - First responders in Brant County have collected over 20,000 pounds of food for the Salvation Army.
Brant County OPP, along with Brant County Fire and EMS have been collecting food donations over the past couple of weeks. They also collected nearly $6,000 in cash and hundreds of toys for the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper program.
Constable Ken Johnston was helping to distribute the food last night and says they were blown away by the support from the community.
"Tonight, you are going to see this large pile of food and there are all these volunteers are organizing that food and putting it out and getting it ready for distribution. Just another amazing day, here in the County of Brant, with all these amazing people coming out to volunteer their time, this time of year. Stay Safe."
Last night, OPP officers, Firefighters and EMS workers joined a number of other volunteers to help sort and distribute the food donations.
