Changes are coming to the WACHC now that Cate Melito has resigned
WOODSTOCK - Several community members came out Wednesday to give their well wishes as Cate Melito is moving on from the Woodstock and Area Community Health Centre.
The Executive Director announced back in June she would be taking on a position with the Grand Bend Community Health Centre as Executive Director.
Melito says there is lots she is very proud of including having a physical presence that allows the Board to offer a range of services is near the top of the list.
"The Addiction Services Thames Valley partnership has been an important development with the walkin clinics across Oxford County and I think the securement of the capitol dollars from the Ministry of Health, we still have to move forward with that development. It is under way now but I think to have that commitment from the Ministry of Health for the expanded centre for Health and Wellbeing is very important."
Chair of the Board of Directors Jason Smith says they will continue to move forward on the objectives the board has set.
"(Melito's) really guided the Board and the staff and the organization through a lot of change. We started with a temporary site out of the old TD bank in Woodstock with her leadership and her ability to lead her team and the board. We are sad to see her go. We wish her best where she is going and she has been great for our organization."
Christina Smits has been Program Director for the past two years and says she knows she has big shoes to fill now that Cate Melito has resigned but she's up for the challenge as Interim Executive Director.
"I think to continue on our mandate of providing the service that we want to provide to the community. We certainly have some work going forward. We are working toward accreditation in 2015."
Smits led the implementation of the new electronic medical record system and software at WACHC.
