OXFORD COUNTY - Southwestern Health reminds the public to get their flu shot now before later as the cold weather is soon to come.
Even if your a critic of the flu shot then the Southwestern Health unit says you should think again as it's a proven way to keep safe from the common cold and flu. It is also important to get the shot as you could infect the people around you such as; people fighting cancer, young children and the elderly. Public health nurse Lesley Leach has more on where you can get the shot.
"Flu shots are available with any health care provider office's, pharmacies, participating workplaces, and it can be given out at your local heath unit as well."
Leach also added the fact that the flu shot is a proven way to fight influenza.
"Even if you think your healthy enough to fight the flu, you might spread the infection. Its free, its safe and is proven to reduce the amount of doctor visits, hospitalizations and deaths related to influenza."
