The affected healthcare settings include Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Woodstock Hospital and St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
OXFORD/ST. THOMAS - Southwestern Public Health is warning everyone about five new potential measles exposures and four of them were in Oxford County.
Three of the incidents took place in the Emergency Department of Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. The first was between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday January 25th, the second was between 10:37 p.m. on Sunday January 26th and 12:45 a.m. on Monday January 27th, and the third was between 10:00 p.m. on Monday January 27th and 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday January January 28th.
Officials say the fourth case in Oxford was in the Emergency Department of the Woodstock Hospital between 10:41 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on Monday January 27th.
The fifth potential exposure, the only one that wasn't in Oxford County, took place in the Emergency Department of St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital between 4:30 p.m. and 6:52 p.m. on Sunday January 26th.
Southwestern Public Health did not identify any gaps in infection control for any of these incidents, However if you were at any of these locations, are born in 1970 or later and are not up to date on your vaccinations you should call the health unit even if you were only there for a short amount of time. Measles is highly contagious and it can linger in the air for up to two hours.
The list of measles symptoms includes a cough, runny nose, red watery eyes, and a red rash that starts on your face before it spreads to the rest of your body.
