Nobody was injured after a fire scare at the Oxford County Administration Building in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Staff at the Oxford County Administration building in downtown Woodstock had to be evacuated today after a fire scare.
Public Information Coordinator with the Woodstock Fire Department Lisa Woods tells Heart FM one of the employees pulled the fire alarm after seeing smoke.
"One of the employees on the fourth floor noticed smoke in the ceiling tiles and subsequently pulled the fire alarm and evacuated the building, we did go in and investigated the entire building and determined it was a ballast from a fluorescent light."
Woods says nobody was injured and staff were back at work after about 45 minutes. She notes the employee did the right thing by pulling the fire alarm.
"The employee did the right thing, if you see smoke, pull the alarm, allow everybody in the entire building an opportunity to exit the building in a timely manner and make sure everybody can make it to safety."
