The Fire Prevention Week campaign is being organized by the Brant County Fire Department and the National Fire Protection Association this year. It goes from 10:00 am to 2:00 am today at the Paris Station 1 and at the Burford Fall Fair next weekend.
BRANT COUNTY - The Brant County Fire Department has teamed up with the National Fire Protection Association for this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign.
The program's theme is "Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!"
It's to educate everyone about small and important actions they can do to keep themselves and others safe during a fire.
The County of Brant Fire Chief Geoff Hayman says this course shows the importance of escape planning.
"In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Escape planning and practices can help you make the most of the time you have giving everyone enough time to get out. If the alarm system sounds, take it seriously and exit immediately."
They can meet the local firefighters, ask questions, learn about fire safety and see the fire trucks.
It is happening today at the Paris Station 1 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and at the Burford Fall Fair next weekend.
