It will be the largest graduation ceremony yet for the Woodstock Regional Fanshawe campus with nearly 350 students. The ceremony will also feature the first wave of international students to graduate from the regional campus.
WOODSTOCK - The Fanshawe College Woodstock/Regional Campus will be graduating close to 350 students on Thursday night.
Associate Dean Jennifer McLean says they are always really excited about graduation day.
"The faculty, staff and administration of our campus are proud to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our 2019 graduating class. These students – including our first graduating cohort of international students, and a number of exceptional award winners – join over hundreds of thousands of Fanshawe alumni who are contributing to the economy and prosperity of our region and the world. Congratulations to these outstanding individuals!"
This is the first year the College Campus will have international graduates in Woodstock. The international students first enrolled in 2017, during their time in Woodstock they got to witness some Canadian culture first hand. Many students experienced snow and skating for the first time, learned several Canadian customs and traditions and celebrated a wide variety of holidays. They also had a chance to travel on field trips outside the region to more about the career opportunities that exist in Canada. McLean says the international students really had a positive impact on the campus and the community."
"We're very pleased to foster a vibrant and culturally diverse campus environment that enriches all our perspectives," says McLean. "Learning and living alongside people from around the globe helps all of our students and staff develop a better understanding of different cultural traditions, communication styles, interpersonal skills and international issues. It offers students authentic opportunities to become better active listeners and critical thinkers, and helps to prepare them for careers in the kind of world they're graduating into - a global economy."
A couple of awards will be handed out on Thursday night as well:
President's Prize – Mr. John Hooper
This year, the Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus will celebrate graduate Mr. John Hooper (police Foundations '18) for receiving the President's Prize, an award presented by Fanshawe President Peter Devlin in recognition of significant academic achievement and meaningful contributions to campus life.

The Campus will also congratulate graduating student Ms. Tamara Joy Visser (Business – Entrepreneurship and Management) for receiving the Dean's Academic Award, presented by Dr. Susan Cluett, Dean, Faculty of Access, Language and Regional Campuses at Fanshawe. The award recognized the highest academic standing within the faculty during this past school year.
