Since the age of 20, Cheryl Blott of Woodstock has battled cancer five times. She was diagnosed with female adnexal tumor of wolffian origin, a very rare form of cancer that attacks the abdomen. Cheryl's family is trying to raise funds to assist the now 46 year-old with the costs of medications as well as renovations to install an accessible bathtub and lift in her house. Due to her illness, Cheryl has not been able to maintain a job through her battles of cancer. Jackie Leanne, Cheryl's niece is encouraging the community to come out to their event, 'Hope For Cheryl' at Cowan Park tonight. "Everyone knows someone or has had someone that they've known that has had cancer and just to come out and support a great cause. Have fun while they're at it, to share some stories with everyone and hopefully get to know Cheryl a bit because she's a great lady and I think everyone should kind of hear her story and support the great cause". The doors open at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are available at the door for $10. Tonight's event will be full of entertainment and good times with a DJ playing tunes for dancing, a 50/50 draw, and a raffle for the chance to win amazing prizes like an iPad, golf passes, Toronto Blue Jays and Hamilton Tiger-Cats tickets. It is a licensed event. For more information visit their Facebook events page here.
