Today is the 5th annual Family Pride Day.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford County Pride is getting ready for their 5th annual Family Pride Day this weekend at Museum Square.
The event gets underway today from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year they have decided to move to Museum Square because they wanted a bigger venue and something more visible to the community.
President of Oxford County Pride, Tami Murray says every year there is a different theme.
"This year we have a country and western hoedown theme. Grab your plaid and your cowboy hats and come on down. We like to theme the event to just to kind of give people some opportunities to be creative with their fashion design."
At the event there will be lots of games, up to 30 vendors, crafts and of course, entertainment.
There will be a special performance by Cory Stewart featuring his new song "My Gay Heart." There will also be music from Phil & Vinni.
Murray adds that more and more people get involved each year.
"Our first year, 5 years ago, they had approximately 45 people attend the picnic at Southside Park. Since the evolution of the Oxford County Pride Committee we have raised those numbers to approximately 250 people."
Oxford County Pride will also be having a Pride Part the same evening from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at Riff's Music Lounge. There will be a performance by the GutterBoyz at 9:00 p.m. and feature artist Sarah Smith takes the stage at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the doors.
