WOODSTOCK - Southwestern Public Health is hosting a free family flu clinic in Woodstock tomorrow.
The clinic is open to children 6 months to 6 years, along with their siblings and caregivers. It runs from 4-7 pm tomorrow Wednesday November 20th, at the Oxford Auditorium.
Flu shots help protect you from getting the virus that impacts the nose, throat and lungs. Medical Officer of Health Joyce Lock says they are the best defence you can take to prevent from getting sick.
"We encourage washing your hands often, covering your cough, staying home when you are sick and disinfecting shared surfaces and items. But your best line of defence against the flu is getting a flu shot every fall. It’s safe, it’s free and it’s proven to reduce the number of doctor visits, hospitalizations and deaths related to the flu."
In addition to the public health clinic, the flu vaccine is available at no cost from your family doctor or health care provider for anyone 6 months and older, as well as at participating pharmacies for anyone 5 years of age and older. You can also call and book an appointment to get your flu shot at your local public health unit site.
