Perth County OPP are pleased to present their first Community Mobilization Officer.
PERTH COUNTY - Perth County OPP have appointed their very first Community Mobilization Officer.
Constable Kees Wijnads says as CMO Bill Dekoning will determine which organizations, police or otherwise, will respond to specific calls.
"It's not like the police have all the answers - we don't, and we realize that. We need to have somebody like a Community Mobilization Officer in place to basically come up with the right people for the right situation."
Wijnads adds some youth in the county might already know Constable Dekoning.
"A lot of the students in Perth County know him because he has been involved in many of the schools. He's been a school resource officer, a youth resource officer in the Listowel area and also in St Marys a number of years ago."
Dekoning brings over 20 years experience with the OPP to the position.
