The Oxford County Indigenous Advisory Committee is hosting a fall social gathering next Saturday.
WOODSTOCK - Everyone is welcome to celebrate indigenous culture in Oxford County this fall.
The Indigenous Advisory Committee is hosting a fall social gathering next Saturday the 13th at St Mary's High School from 10 am until 4 p.m. Supervisor of Family and Children's services for Oxford County Cara VanKlaveren says they will have plenty of fun for the whole family.
"We have a fiddler coming, we have a hoop dancer coming, we have a big drum activity, there will be children's activities, the Bee Nation documentary will be shown, we promise to have something for the whole family."
This free drop-in event for residents and families will offer perspectives and networking opportunities to learn about Indigenous culture and traditions. You will also have a chance to learn more about local Indigenous groups including N’Amerind Friendship Centre, Native Women’s Centre, and local Metis Councils.
Transportation will be available for Oxford residents without access to transportation to the event. Rides can be arranged by contacting Oxford County Human Services at 519-539-9800 ext. 3317.
