A 42 year old man from Woodstock learned the hard way why it's a bad idea to use a fake gun as a fashion accessory.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police officers responded to a weapons complaint on Dundas Street and Vansittart Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers arrived at the scene after hearing a report about a man walking around with a firearm on his waist, described as a pistol. The call came in just after 4:00 p.m.
Police discovered the item to be a belt buckle pistol accessory which resembled a semi-automatic pistol. Staff Sergeant Neil Butler says it's not a good idea to wear something that looks like a gun.
“It is not a criminal offence to wear such a belt accessory, however it does show a lack of common sense.”
A 42 year-old Woodstock male was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
