Hundreds of students in the County could be sent home today for not having updated vaccination records.
OXFORD COUNTY - As of 4:00 pm Wednesday afternoon 225 students in Oxford County still had not supplied updated vaccination records to Public Health.
This comes after notices were sent out to one thousand parents warning them of possible suspension for their child if the records weren't updated by today.
Program Supervisor of Health Protection for Oxford County Public Health, Joanne Andrews says there has been a mad rush from parents to update the information.
Andrews says anyone without the proper records will be suspended starting today. "The principal will contact the parent to notify them that the student is suspended and the suspension period is 20 school days however once we receive the information or the child receives the immunization which brings them up to date, then they can return to school." Should the 20 day period come to an end without updated records, Andrews says another suspension order will be issued.
Andrews says there are many ways parents can relay the updated records to Public Health staff. "Parents and guardians -- if they haven't provided us with the information -- they can do that either by telephone, by fax, by online submission form or by providing it to us in our office."
