Investigators are still working to determine the cause of a house fire on King Hiram Street in Ingersoll.
INGERSOLL - Approximately 35 fire fighters were called to assist in a house fire that broke out in Ingersoll yesterday afternoon.
Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Baker says the two storey home on King Hiram Street was a difficult one to put out.
"It was a stubborn fire, there was a lot of concealed spaces, so we were initially in an offensive attack, and due to safety concerns we had to switch to a defensive attack, we got it knocked down pretty quick, but we had to dig for some hot spots."
One person who in the house when the fire began, but managed to escape unharmed. Baker adds that the damages are extensive.
"Damages right now are estimated around $225,000 as the building was fully involved upon our arrival."
Baker reminds the community about the importance of working smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas, and to practice a home escape plan with the entire family.
Investigators are still working on the cause of the blaze.
