Lace up the sneakers as the community is invited to head to the Oxford County Trails Festival, it will include Tillsonburg's trailhead in the second annual event.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Trails Festival is happening next weekend.
People will be able to walk the Harrington Mill Pond Trail on June 1st.
Oxford County Trails council member Dan Molinaro says that day's event will feature plenty of activities.
"Most of the events are totally free and just head out and show up and arrive, and participate. There are two activities up in Harrington, there's one with an artist and one with a photographer that you need to pre-book and there is a slight charge for those two events. And you could buy tea and other goodies out at the Grist Mill while you're touring Grist Mill and of course it's a very small trail around the Grist Mill, it's only one kilometre, but they have lots of activities planned."
Along with the Grist Mill tour, other activities will include Trash Theatre and a guided nature walk. The first event is also International Trails Day. The Nature Photography will cost $5.00 and Creating Art will be $95.00.
The public can then walk the trails in Tillsonburg on June 2nd. Molinaro says activities are free that day and are available to people of all ages.
"They've got tons of activities including Birds of Prey and Norfolk Equestrian Association will have horses there, so they're going to have a lot of activities for people of all ages. And if you'd like to participate we'd like to see you there. Again, most of the activities are free."
Molinaro adds that people dress with proper clothing and footwear while on the trails, adding that there will be some hiking and ticks may be present.
The Harrington Mill Pond Trail will go from 10:00am to 4:00pm and the event in Tillsonburg is from 12:30pm to 4:00pm.
