The ONroute location in Ingersoll will undergo renovations sometime over the next three years, and that's when it will have EV chargers installed.
ONTARIO - All of the newly renovated ONroute locations along Highway 401 and Highway 400 now have fast chargers for electric vehicles.
Each of the 20 locations have at least two chargers on site for electric vehicle owners. The Woodstock ONroute had its chargers installed last spring.
The ONroute locations in Ingersoll, Maple, and Newcastle will have their chargers installed once they undergo renovations sometime over the next three years.
More than 118,000 electric vehicles were registered in the province as of last month. This number includes battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. It's believed that there will be more than one million electric vehicles on Ontario roads by 2023.
Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney says the new charging stations will make life easier for electric vehicle owners.
“With more people switching to electric vehicles each year, we’re preparing for the future now by rapidly building the infrastructure needed to support a cleaner, greener, more accessible Ontario for zero-emission vehicle drivers.”
