Ernie Hardeman has been the MPP for Oxford County since 1995 and he doesn't plan on giving up his seat any time soon.
A familiar face will be running for the Provincial Conservative Party in Oxford County.
Ernie Hardeman has been the MPP for Oxford County since 1995 and he has decided to take one more kick at the can. Hardeman was confirmed as the Ontario PC Candidate for Oxford County for the June 7th election next year at a nomination meeting last night. The nomination was uncontested. He tells Heart FM that he wanted to carry on and serve the people of Oxford.
"I think it is very important that we change direction in the province of Ontario and with the present Government that we currently have, we really can't handle another 4 years with the present government. Each day I work hard to serve my constituents and try to ensure their views are heard - whether it is pushing the government to reduce hydro costs, provide assistance for people impacted by the recently announced job losses or raising concerns about risks to our drinking water.”
Hardeman has served as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, as well as, Associate Minister of Municipal Affairs while in government and is currently the Opposition critic for Municipal Affairs and Housing. Hardeman also is proud of the private member bills he has passed including the Hawkins Gignac Act which requires carbon monoxide detectors in all homes with an attached garage or fuel burning appliance.
“I've heard from a lot of people who are facing real hardship under the Liberal government, particularly due to the high cost of hydro,” said Hardeman. “We need a change in the provincial government to address these problems and get Ontario back on track.”
President of the Oxford PC Association Scott Macintosh is happy to see Ernie's name on the ticket once again.
