Oxford county and the surrounding areas are being told to prepare as meteorologists track a low pressure system developing over Texas.
Environment Canada has put out a winter storm watch for Oxford and the surrounding areas.
Meteorologists are currently watching a low pressure system that is developing over Texas and will head toward the Lower Great Lakes before spreading into Southern Ontario tomorrow morning. They believe the low will tap into the moisture of the Gulf of Mexico which could lead to an intense winter storm.
Environment Canada says with this type of system they typically see 15 to 30 cm of heavy snow, freezing rain, and ice pellets.
Drivers are being warned to prepare just in case this storm does blow through our area.
As the storm draws closer more exact snowfall amounts and the possibility of ice pellets and freezing rain will become clearer.
