The battleground in the union fight against Electro-Motive shifted from London to Ingersoll today. Locked out workers and CAW Local 88 members have been blocking a locomotive in Downtown Ingersoll. The protest began early in the morning, around 5:30AM. As Ingersoll resident and Electro-Motive worker Paul Dona explains the significance of the locomotive they were blocking. "This is a unit that was built pre-lockout and was scheduled to be painted professionally by us in London. It's obviously being moved out to be done by a second rate outfit that wants to paint it for Caterpillar." They believed it was en-route to the Salford area, and are vowing to continue to blockade as long as possible. OPP Constable Stacey Culbert says the police are on the scene, and are there to ensure safety, not to get involved in the labour dispute. "We're not going to get into that with them. We're going to be here to mediate, to talk to the two parties to make sure its peaceful, make sure the public safety is looked after but also the safety of the people who are here."
