The long weekend is here, and the Woodstock Police Service has launched their "Who is in Control" Drive Safe! Campaign.
WOODSTOCK - Members of the Woodstock Police Service will be out in full force to keep the roads safe this long weekend.
There will be extra R.I.D.E programs at various times and locations
Media Relations Officer Nikki VanLeeuwen says they will be on the lookout for impaired drivers, distracted drivers and those without their seatbelts on.
"We want you when you're in a car to focus on what you're doing and to be sober doing it."
VanLeeuwen adds most people are not aware that it can take as little as one drink to receive a warning from police and some have even blown over the limit at one drink. A designated driver is always the safest option.
Chief Bill Renton says far too many people are injured and killed on Ontario roads.
"We have certainly endured our own traffic tragedies recently as well as over the last year. It's important that everyone - drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians are responsible on our roads."
