Southwestern Public Health is reminding everyone that disposable gloves are not recommended to be worn in the community and give you a false sense of security.
OXFORD COUNTY - While face masks and coverings are being recommended by the Province today, wearing disposable gloves are not.
Southwestern Public Health says wearing disposable gloves in the community is NOT recommended. They can give you a false sense of security and could actually do more harm than good. Hand washing remains one of the best ways to protect against COVID-19.
We have heard from several listeners too about people just leaving their gloves on the ground of grocery stores and department stores, leaving them for others to clean up.
Thinking about wearing disposable gloves in the community? You might want to think again.
• Wearing disposable gloves in the community is NOT recommended.
• Disposable gloves may give a false sense of security.
• Touching various surfaces with the same pair of disposable gloves can transmit COVID-19 and other viruses from one location to another.
• Diligent handwashing remains one of the best ways to protect against COVID-19.
Remember – stay 2m (6-feet) apart whenever possible, wash your hands frequently for at least 15 seconds, disinfect high-touch surfaces, and stay home if you are sick.
