OXFORD COUNTY - It is Discovery Week in Oxford County!
First-year medical students from Western University have joined the staff at Woodstock Hospital for a hands-on, one-week placement. Fatima Kaliq shares her experiences.
"For me, I've seen family medicine. I got to see internal medicine and general surgery. I will say general surgery has piqued my interest quite a bit."
Joseph Russell says he has taken a liking to one specific area.
"I've been particularly enjoying urology, so like looking at the kidneys and the bladder."
Russell mentions what kind of experience this has been for him as well.
"Absolutely. Well, this is undoubtedly the highlight of current medical school, and we just finished the whole year. That's packed full of like learning, and we've loved it."
Another group of medical students will be in the hospital next week. That's when Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital will also welcome students for the program.
