Delays can be expected going into January 2025 as Canada Post deals with the backlog of letters and packages.
CANADA - Canada Post service resumes today, but it could still be a while before your letters and packages arrive in the mail.
The Crown corporation says it will take some time to deal with the backlog caused by the postal strike. It would receive or pickup new new products until Thursday and new international mail will not be accepted until December 23rd.
Canadians can expect delays going into January 2025.
About 55,000 postal workers hit the picket lines on November 15th. The Canada Industrial Relations Board issued a return to work order over the weekend, after determining the negotiations between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers were at an impasse and a deal was not doable by year's end.
The union has stated that the federal government's decision to get involved tramples on worker's rights to bargain and strike.
