Ingersoll Seniors Centre and Soccer Club have a home until at least the end of 2030.
INGERSOLL - The Town of Ingersoll has secured in principle the use of Suzuki House and the CAMI Flyer soccer park until the end of 2030.
The Town inked a deal with GM Canada for the land earlier this month.
Director of Economic Development for Ingersoll, Kale Brown says while the original lease continued until the end of 2020, renewing the lease early was a big concern for some.
"Many of our user groups in town, mainly the soccer club and our seniors centre -- some of those facilities take a number of years to get into place and having some assurances many years out gives them some certainty that they have a home in which to do their contribution to the community."
"One of the big things is soccer fields take up to 3 years to get online with the grass grown and ready for game shape so it's a big concern for these people to have some certainty well beyond three years and that's what we have done with this agreement."
Suzuki House is the home of the Ingersoll Seniors Centre while the CAMI Flyer soccer park is home to Ingersoll Soccer Club.
