Curling Brings In The Cash

Curl for Kids Sake raised over $15,000 this year for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tillsonburg Ingersoll and District.

INGERSOLL/TILLSONBURG - The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tillsonburg Ingersoll and District raised over $15,000 at their annual Curl for Kids Sake bonspiels. 

Teams of 4 competed in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg over the past two weeks for the event. Executive Director Deb Langdon explains the theme this year. 

"Fandemonium, we are using the same theme this year for the curling and the bowling, It's basically your a fan of your favourite sports team and I think everybody was out and dressed in their favourite jersey." 

Langdon says they came up just short of their fundraising goal this year.

"We had one draw for each event, we are down a bit for each event but the enthusiasm was there and the fundraising was there, so for the two events we raised $15,000, which is pretty good because we had a goal of $20,000. We would of exceeded our total if we could of filled all of the draws, we did have some new teams out this year, which generated some more interest and gave the opportunity for more people to be introduced to the sport of curling." 

All of the money raised at these events will go towards helping to fund all of the programs and services offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
