The Children's Aid Society of Oxford County's Cribs For Kids begins tomorrow. It goes for the next eight to nine weeks, starting at the Tremblett's Independent in Ingersoll.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Cribs For Kids program is tomorrow.
The Children's Aid Society of Oxford County have been running the program for nearly six years.
Santa Ron says the initiative helps local families.
"So it started with Children's Aid in 2013/2014 and there were so many people in need in Oxford County that needed cribs, and safe cribs because a lot of the old cribs that have been passed down, pass down, the bars are too far apart. So this way it's to get the proper cribs out there. So they run around $275.00 a piece with the mattress and the crib sheets and they started, like I said, in 2013-2014 and we've done $75,000.00 worth of cribs up to date."
Santa Ron says he'll be in grocery stores raising money, which will run for the next eight to nine weeks.
"So Santa sets up, I set up my Caribbean backdrop, so beach and palm trees and then I have a lot of gags there for the kids, beach balls and that kind of stuff. And the mom can take a picture with me in my summer Santa outfit and then the kids get to pick a toy from my bucket, and then the parents just make a donation at the till."
The campaign will be stationed inside of different participating grocery stores around the County, including Giant Tiger Woodstock and Ingersoll, Valu-Mart in Tavistock and the Metro in Tillsonburg.
The initiative starts at the Tremblett's Independent in Ingersoll.
