County Receives 2025 Budget Survey Results

Over 1,100 Oxford County residents participated in the 2025 Budget Survey.

OXFORD COUNTY - Budget season is just around the corner to determine where money will be spent in 2025.

Oxford County Council was given the budget survey at their latest meeting and discussed the findings. Warden, Marcus Ryan says Council always wants to get feedback from the people who live in the County.

"It's fantastic to hear from residents on anything that municipal government does frankly. Whether we like it or not, we are better informed when we hear from residents."

Warden Ryan mentions the budget survey fell aside during the pandemic, but it is back every year, which is the intention. People can fill out the survey every year to give input on what they would want more or less of.

A total of 1,136 people responded to the survey this year with over 650 comments. Sixty-two percent of the respondents said they believe they get good value for their tax dollars, while 24 percent stated the opposite.

County staff say affordable housing was ranked the number one priority for all municipalities. Warden Ryan also noticed something else that he found interesting.

"The one that stood out to me as being consistent, either positive or negative was there seems to be an underlying desire for some form of green bin or organic collection."

Warden Ryan says Council has already been exploring that option, and he expects that to be a big topic once budget debates start.
