Budget deliberations will get started this month and Oxford County council wants to hear from you.
Oxford County council is looking to hear from the public as they get set to start their 2017 budget deliberations.
They want to know what County services you are using and how you think they should be spending the money they generate from property taxes. Director of Corporate Services Lynn Buchner tells Heart FM they want to hear from everyone.
"So we are asking residents to rate their overall perception of the value recieved for County tax dollars and how they would like to provide input on future budget consultations."
They have launched a survey online at the County web site and it is available until November 15th.
"Well basically we are just looking for an oppurtunity to educate the Oxford County residents, in terms of what our accounting programs cost and learn more from them in terms of how they would like us to concentrate our spending."
Boucher adds the budget process is a chance for Oxford residents to learn more about how County programs and projects are funded, and to find out what is planned for the coming year.
"With Council having indicated they would like to see more public consultation for the budget process, we are using this year to get more information about how people want to become informed and engaged in this process. This consultation will assist in focusing our attention on the programs and services that are important to the communities we serve."
On November 10, Oxford County will release the 2017 Draft Business Plan & Budget for public review. Special budget meetings of County Council follow on November 16, 23 and 30, with the budget presentation for final approval scheduled for December 14, 2016.
