The events in Woodstock, Ingersoll, and Tillsonburg have raised over $81,000 combined.
OXFORD COUNTY - We're less than a month away until the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY).
It's happening on Saturday February 22nd and 208 communities across Canada will be raising funds for organizations that help people experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness.
As of this noon, the Woodstock campaign had raised over $120,700 for Operation Sharing, making it 26th most successful in the country.
Tim Dukes, the Executive Director of Operation Sharing, says all of the money raised will be put to good use.
"All of our programs, the meal program and everything, that all comes from donations. With Coldest Night of the Year being our only big fundraiser of an entire year, it's very vital to our program and what we are trying to do."
The Woodstock campaign has raised 27 percent of its $140,000 fundraising goal so far.
The events in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll will support United Way Oxford. Executive Director Kelly Gilson says the organization foots the bill for the transitional housing facilities in those communities.
"The United Way covers all of the operating costs from the mortgage all the way through to the utilities, the internet, lawn maintence, and also the staffing."
Both towns have set a fundraising goal of $60,000 each. The Ingersoll event was 96 percent of the way there with over $57,600 raised as of this afternoon, making it the 36th most successful in Canada.
The Tillsonburg event has raised 66 percent of its fundraising goal with over $39,800 raised. This makes it the 84th most successful in Canada.
Looking at all three communities as a whole, over 500 people have registered to participate in the outdoor walks on February 22nd.
