OXFORD - Cooling centres are operating in Oxford County during the current heat wave.
Environment Canada says we can expect daytime highs between 31 and 34 for today and tomorrow, but it will feel closer to 40 with the humidity. It's also predicting an overnight low of 23 for tonight.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.
Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. When it's hot eat cool, light meals.
Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
The three main cooling centres in Oxford County include the Fusion Youth Centre in Ingersoll, The Tillsonburg Mall on Broadway Street and the Woodstock Reeves Community Complex on Finkle Street. Southwestern Public Health does advise calling ahead before you go and COVID-19 restrictions will remain in place.
