MP Dave MacKenzie waits to see all the candidates before endorsing anyone for leadership. Haldimand Norfolk MP Diane Finley shows interest.
With Stephen Harper set to resign as the leader of the Federal Conservative Party, talks are already starting as to who the interim leader will be.
MP for Oxford County Dave MacKenzie says it is still to early for him to be endorsing anyone.
"We just had the election on Monday, so the whole concept of an interim leader is pretty early in the whole process. So not knowing who might be out there that might be interested in it, it would be too early for me to pick one at this point."
MacKenzie did confirm he has no interest in being the interim leader of the party saying it is not a role he would want in any way shape or form. However right next door Haldimand Norfolk MP and former cabinet Minister Diane Finley has said she intends to run for the interim leadership of the party. McKenzie did have some nice things to say about Finley but stopped short of endorsing her.
"I like Diane, there is absolutely no reason why she can't do the job, but like I say, I haven't heard who else there might be so in my case I would just wait to see who there might be out there that wants it so I can make a better, more informed decision."
Whoever is selected as interim leader will likely hold the position for 18 months to 2 years while the Conservatives select their next leader to run against the Liberals in the next election.
