The newly renovated Tillsonburg Library is officially open for business
Seven months and over a million dollars later, the renovated Tillsonburg Library is open for business.
Although it has been open for a few months, the official grand opening of the eight thousand square foot facility was held Thursday.
CEO and Chief Librarian Lisa Miettinen tells Heart FM response to the facility has been great.
"We've given out well over three thousand new cards since we've been back. We have steadily increasing traffic and circulation every month and generally speaking the comments are very positive."
Tillsonburg Mayor John Lessif says the renovated library is a great asset to the entire county.
"We service our rural communities, east, west, south and north of us. Rural communities that come into Tillsonburg for shopping, social services, healthcare, etc.. Now that we have what we have as a library, they have another reason to come to Tillsonburg to use this facility versus driving elsewhere."
The library was made possible from a combination of a 40 thousand dollar Ontario Trillium Grant, federal dollars through the Community Infrastructure Fund as well as municipal money.
