Jamie Holt collected over $600 in gift cards and cash for an Ashton Court family
Oxford residents have once again stepped up in a big way to help a family in need.
On Thursday residents were able to stop by the Walmart parking lot to donate gift cards to help a Woodstock family whose house was partly destroyed boxing day when a fire broke out.
Fundraising organizer Jamie Holt says nearly $600 in cash and gift cards was collected Thursday.
"We have a tonne of Playstation games for the boys and Guitar Hero and games and clothes and all kinds of stuff for them."
Holt says she doesn't even know the family.
"My husband got sick in the summer time. Full kidney failure and he had tumours on his parathyroid and people stepped up to help me from Calvery Church and Tigercat and other just random singular people helped us out and without them, we could have lost our house because we just couldn't pay for it so this is just my way of paying back."
Holt says she will now pass the goods over to a neighbour to deliver to the family.
