With wind chill values of -25 expected for Thursday night, Oxford Public Health issue a cold weather alert.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford Public Health have issued another cold weather alert for the county.
The forecasted low for tonight is -16 degrees celsius tonight coupled with wind chill values of -25, Public Health is cautioning residents of the dangers to prolonged exposure to the frigid temperatures.
Over-exposure to the cold may lead to complications such as frostbite and hypothermia. Those at highest risk are infants, young children and older adults as well as outdoor workers.
Those looking to seek shelter from the cold may visit Inn Out Of Cold at Old St Paul's Anglican Church on Dundas between 7pm and 7am. Anyone arriving after 11:00 pm must be accompanied by police. The Salvation Army in Woodstock also offer temporary Emergency Housing for families for a period of up to six weeks. Those interested are asked to call 519-539-7235 and leave a message.
